Southern Ontario is home to one of the most active cannabis markets in the country. From Windsor to Toronto, and everywhere in between, adult consumers have more options for buying legal cannabis than at any point since legalization. But with more options comes more noise — and finding a shop that consistently delivers on product quality, pricing, selection, and service takes a little research.
This guide covers what makes a cannabis shop worth your time and money in Southern Ontario, and why The Purple Leaf has become the retailer of choice for buyers across the region.
What to Look for in a Southern Ontario Cannabis Shop
Before we get into what sets the best apart, here’s the criteria that actually matters when evaluating a cannabis retailer in Ontario.
Licensing and Compliance
Every legitimate cannabis retailer in Ontario must be licensed under the Cannabis Act and comply with Health Canada regulations. This means every product on their menu has been tested for potency, pesticides, and contaminants. Shopping from a licensed retailer isn’t just the legal choice — it’s the safe one. The Purple Leaf is fully licensed and compliant, and every product we sell meets federal testing standards.
Product Range and Availability
The best cannabis shops carry far more than basic flower. A well-stocked Southern Ontario retailer should offer a full menu covering flower, edibles, concentrates, vapes, CBD products, pre-rolls, seeds, and accessories — and keep that inventory consistently stocked. Nothing is more frustrating than finding a product you love only to have it perpetually out of stock.
Pricing and Value
Ontario cannabis pricing varies significantly between retailers. The best shops offer competitive base pricing, transparent fees, bulk deals, and regular promotions. Look for retailers that reward loyalty and make it easy to find a good deal without having to hunt for it.
Accessibility — In-Store and Online
The most convenient cannabis shops in Southern Ontario aren’t just the ones with a physical storefront nearby. The best ones offer a full online store with local delivery and Canada-wide shipping, so you can shop on your schedule without leaving the house.
Customer Service and Knowledge
A great cannabis shop has staff who actually know their products. Whether you’re a first-time buyer trying to navigate indica versus sativa, or an experienced user looking for a specific terpene profile in a new concentrate, knowledgeable service makes a real difference.

Our edibles menu goes well beyond gummies — browse candy and gummies, baked goods and chocolate, drinks and powders, and capsules for precise dosing.
Our vapes and cartridges are all authentic and lab-tested — disposable pens, refillable 510-thread cartridges, and accessories, sourced from verified producers.
Prefer non-psychoactive options? Our CBD range includes oils, topicals, capsules, and edibles for users seeking the wellness benefits of cannabis without the high.
And for everything you need to enjoy your cannabis properly, our gear and accessories section covers grinders, bongs, dab rigs, rolling papers, pipes, and cleaning solutions.

Shopping for Cannabis in Southern Ontario — Your Key Options
Southern Ontario buyers have three main ways to purchase legal cannabis.
Licensed online retailers. Online dispensaries like The Purple Leaf offer the widest selection, the most competitive pricing, and the convenience of shopping from home with delivery to your door. This is the preferred option for the majority of Ontario cannabis consumers.
Private licensed brick-and-mortar stores. Physical dispensaries have opened across Southern Ontario cities since 2018. Hours, pricing, and selection vary considerably. For London-area buyers, The Purple Leaf serves the local market with same-area delivery.
The Ontario Cannabis Store (OCS). The provincial government retailer offers online ordering and is available province-wide. Pricing tends to be less competitive than private retailers, and the selection of specialty products like concentrates and craft flower is more limited.
For most Southern Ontario cannabis buyers, a licensed private online retailer offers the best overall combination of value, selection, and convenience.
